Kenya's Silicon Savannah attracts 140 investors, $1.2bn investment

Kenya says the private sector is critical to the success  of the country by investing in digital infrastructure to boost internet access, and encourage innovation.

Kenya's interest in the semiconductor industry comes as analysts predict growth in the sector.

Kenya's government says it is establishing agreements with countries like the US and South Korea to expand digital media.

The government says it wants to use Kenya's skills and resources to compete globally and boost the economy through providing work opportunities for young people.

This week, executives from two European countries paid a visit to the East African country to seek investment opportunities.

The partnership has so far established smart city development, the Konza Digital Media City, and the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
