The five-week ICT training program seeks to provide young women, particularly those from marginalised groups, with basic digital skills.

The training initiative is the most recent chapter in ITC's continuous efforts in Zambia to close the digital connectivity gap and generate new opportunities for SMEs.

The READY Salone project, which will run for four years, aims to help young entrepreneurs and tech hubs capitalise on opportunities in the digital economy.

According to Binance, the project comes at a time when digital skills would be required for 230 million jobs in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.

The project, which began on Wednesday, is designed to improve digital literacy skills among educators at 35 teacher training institutes around the country.

According to the UNHCR, the initiative stresses the importance of training and employment in rebuilding refugees' dignity and confidence.

With support from the Malawi government and the World Bank, the initiative is seeking to expand its training in various digital and enterprise development fields.

Since its introduction in Uganda, the MTN Skills Academy, which is part of the telecoms giant's larger Digital Skills for Digital Jobs project, has enrolled over 1,420 youth.
