The National Communications Authority (NCA) hosted a delegation from Ericsson at its iconic Tower in Accra for strategic talks on emerging technologies that could shape Ghana’s digital future.

The engagement signaled a deepening collaboration on next-generation innovations in telecommunications, with 5G technology at the center of discussions.

Rev. Ing. Edmund Y. Fianko, Acting Director General of the NCA, welcomed the six-member Ericsson team.

“Stakeholder collaboration is vital to driving sustainable tech growth,” he said.

In that same meeting, the NCA acting director general announced the upcoming launch of a public consultation on the Managed Services Licence, a key regulatory move aimed at fostering inclusivity and market stability.

"Ericsson's input will be crucial in shaping a responsive and forward-thinking regulatory framework," he stated.

Representing Ericsson, Majda Lahlou Kassi, vice president and head of the customer unit for West and Southern Africa, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s telecom sector.

She underlined Ericsson’s support for the Ministry of Communications’ “One Million Coders” initiative, which aims to equip youth with digital skills to thrive in a tech-driven economy.

Majda also emphasised 5G as more than just a leap in speed but a gateway to new digital frontiers.

“5G is a platform for use cases we haven't imagined yet. Ghana has the potential to lead in this space with the right partnerships and policy alignment,” she said.

The delegation included top Ericsson executives, Fabrizio Cara, Richard Kweku Arthur, Badr Ndor, and Rostand Njomgang, each bringing strategic insights on cloud services, network deployment, and digital infrastructure.
