Infobip, a global cloud communication company for businesses and a leader in omnichannel customer engagement, has once again been honoured as a category winner at the Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA) annual WASPIES Awards, scooping the accolade in the Excellence Award: Messaging service category.

Katlego Kapari, Operator Partnerships Account Manager at Infobip, explains that the award recognises a player in the messaging and SMS community that is not only exploring the latest developments in Rich Communication Services (RCS) and Application-To-Person (A2P) solutions, but is also focused on providing innovative messaging solutions on a reliable platform.

“We were invited to submit entries in various categories and are incredibly pleased to have won an excellent award, as it speaks volumes about our efforts and hard work as a company,” says Kapari.

“I’m confident that this award will also provide our employees with additional motivation to continue working hard as their contribution has been recognised and rewarded at the prestigious WASPIES Awards.”

Peer recognition

Hosted by WASPA, the WASPIES is a peer recognition awards ceremony and networking event that celebrates the association’s members by recognising those that make stellar contributions to the industry.

After being introduced in 2022, this year saw the second edition of the awards ceremony held at Katy’s Palace, in Kramerville, Sandton. Infobip’s win this year proudly follows on last year’s success when the company walked away with Service Provider of the Year Award.

“We are thrilled and honoured to have won a WASPIES award twice in a row. This year’s excellence award recognises distinction in the provision messaging services in the A2P, SMS and RCS messaging space, as well as our work as a Communications Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) provider,” says Kapari.

“We won the award not only on the strength of what we are doing locally, but also on the basis of our global coverage. As a global company, Infobip continues to set trends in the industry as a messaging partner and provider to large enterprises, financial institutions, fintechs and startups.”

Innovation across the ecosystem

Kapari notes that Infobip endeavours to provide its clients with bespoke solutions and to craft business communication services using its platform, online tools and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). This ultimately leads to innovation and the development of new use cases that benefit all participants across the entire ecosystem, from telcos and enterprises to mobile users.

“It has been a tough year for Infobip due to the emergence of new competitors who are offering similar services. Hence, we are delighted to have won this award, as it adds some renewed energy to the entire organisation,” says Kapari.

“It is a particularly great feeling to know that we did not just win an award for being a service provider, but one that recognises our excellence in the services that we deliver and hard work of our sales team who are experts in what to sell and how to sell it.”

He adds that the award also means a great deal to Infobip as an organisation, as many recent changes have been made to the company’s strategy to improve its performance and drive growth, while differentiating it from its competitors.

“For South Africa to show other regions that we are doing so well will hugely benefit our local employees and also provide confidence for customers who deal with Infobip across the Southern African and larger African region,” Kapari concludes.
