Raxio Group and AFR-IX Telecom have partnered to expand digital infrastructure in Angola and Mozambique, with Raxio’s data centres supporting AFR-IX’s network expansion.
According to the companies, deploying AFR-IX’s network infrastructure in Raxio’s colocation data centres will give enterprises, internet service providers, mobile operators and cloud platforms improved access to regional and international connectivity, supporting demand for cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI) applications and data-intensive workloads.
The partnership is expected to reduce reliance on overseas traffic routing, lowering latency and connectivity costs while improving local internet performance.
Historically, internet traffic in many African countries has relied on overseas routing, resulting in higher latency and additional costs.
As demand for cloud services, streaming, AI applications and digital platforms accelerates, access to resilient, locally anchored connectivity infrastructure is increasingly vital.
By combining Raxio’s carrier-neutral colocation infrastructure with AFR-IX Telecom’s terrestrial and subsea network assets, customers will benefit from greater network diversity, improved resilience and more efficient traffic routing, the companies said.
The deployment is also expected to strengthen Angola and Mozambique’s positions as regional digital gateways for West-Central and Southern Africa.
