Kenya has expanded ties on digital innovation and cyber security with Azerbaijan. This comes after a Kenyan delegation at the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, toured some key facilities in the host country.
William Gitau, Kenya’s cabinet secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, led the delegation, which toured Azerbaijan’s Cybersecurity Centre and AI Academy.
He said the insights gained through the tours would support Kenya’s digital journey as it expanded skills, strengthened systems and scaled innovation through the country’s Digital Superhighway agenda.
“We look forward to deeper collaboration and shared progress,” Gitau said.
“Kenya remains committed to building strong partnerships that enhance our cyber resilience, digital services, and opportunities for our youth.”
Gitau said the delegation, during the tours, reviewed cyber-defence training programmes and digital protection systems.
The team received briefings on new digital products, including digital signatures and electronic document services.
Last week, Kenya underscored the growing partnership with Azerbaijan, describing the ties as built on mutual respect, development collaboration and shared global priorities.
Azerbaijan has pledged its support as Kenya prepares to host the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) in December.
