25 of Africa's biggest social media brands
Supersport has emerged as the most successful brand from Africa on social media according to the Africa Brand Index, a list compiled by advertising and PR company Ornico in association with Johannesburg-based social analytics and media monitoring platform provider Fuseware.
The Index identifies brands that have managed to make the most of engagement on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
In August Supersport measured best among all the African social media brands based on metrics that included community growth, response, sentiments and content engagement, among others.
Two Kenyan media brands, Citizen TV Kenya and NTV Kenya secured second and third spot respectively, while News24 and Nigeria's GTBank complete the top five.
The list also indicates whether a brand is on the up or on a downward spiral. Research has also been conducted to draft additional lists pertaining to key regions in Africa, including South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
These lists can also be narrowed down to reflect the top social media brands in various categories including technology, government, banking, retail and telecoms.
All lists are published on the Africa Brand Index website along with a description of the methodology used to compile them.
