Mobile money service takes off with Zambia’s Proflight

Travelers on local Zambian airline Proflight can now book their flights online, over the phone and by e-mail and make payments through mobile money transfer company, Zoona.

This follows the partnership between the two companies that will allow travellers on Proflight to make payment at any of Zoona's 500 outlets countrywide.

Passengers will be given a reference number when they make a booking by e-mail, online and phone and a limited time in which to pay. The reference number will then be quoted when making payment at any Zoona outlets.

Zoona will then provide travellers with an SMS confirming their payment and the ticket will automatically be e-mailed to the passengers with all their flight information to any one of the Proflight destinations including Malawi, DRC, Livingstone, Mfuwe and Ndola.

Zoona regional managing director Lelemba Phiri said Zoona is dedicated to making life easier for customers and helping the communities thrive by making payments and other financial services accessible to all.

"This new partnership with Proflight gives our customers even more reason to keep using our services," Lelemba said.

And Proflight director of government and industry affairs Captain Phillip Lemba said, "paying for a seat on the plane is now as simple as popping to the market to buy some vegetables".
