Axian Telecom appoints new Free au Senegal CEO
Axian Telecom named Kamal Okba CEO of Free au Sénégal this week, with the goal of driving growth and innovation at the telco.
Okba, the current CEO of Tigo Tanzannia, will take over his new post on July 1, 2024, replacing Mamadou Mbengue, who is leaving the group to pursue new opportunities.
Jerome Albou, chief technology and information officer of Axian Telecom, will replace Okba at Tigo on an interim basis while maintaining his existing responsibilities.
Stephane Oudin, CEO of Axian Telecom, hailed Okba’s appointment as coming at the perfect time to propel the expansion of Free au Senegal.
"I am confident that Kamal will make significant contributions to the growth of Free in Senegal and have a profound impact on the market," Oudin stated.
Okba, an experienced telecoms professional with over 25 years of experience, has held numerous leadership positions, including 15 years as CEO of various telecom carriers.
As CEO of Tigo Tanzania, he has achieved double-digit revenue growth. Just last week, the company announced that under his leadership, it had soared to 20 million subscribers.
