Angola’s new mobile phone operator Africell has edged closer to entrenching local operations with the introduction of a new datacentre in Luanda.

The company said the facility will serve as the cornerstone of its network services delivery in the country and is the result of collaboration between several stakeholders, including Dell, HP, Nokia and Oracle.

Africell added that local partners such as CPC Africa, Jembas and Prosecurity were involved in the design, construction and implementation of the project.

It said that the offer of cloud networking capabilities will empower local businesses with the connectivity to be able to compete more effectively in global markets.

The construction of the datacentre is in line with the company’s strategy to lead a digital transformation in Angola.

In June this year, the company successfully acquired a US$105-million syndicate loan facility to support its expansion plans across Africa.
