Paratus Zambia’s well-timed new datacentre
Paratus Group recently unveiled its new datacentre in Lusaka and believes the timing of the resource could not be better - given the country’s new administration’s position on technology and its role in society.
In April the company confirmed its intention to open up the resource, adding that the 1-megawatt (MW) facility will leverage the latest physical and virtual security to ensure the secure storage, protection, and management of data.
Paratus Zambia MD, Marius van Vuuren said: “Through our investment in infrastructure, we are demonstrating our commitment to deliver the best quality services across SADC. While there are other datacentres in Zambia, they are not of this quality, standard and capacity. Multinationals will be given peace of mind knowing their data will be utterly secure at all times in such a world-class facility.”
As a multinational, considering the off-site move to a datacentre may seem like an immense task, but according to Paratus Zambia, moving data off-site to a fully secured facility not only guarantees enhanced processing and protection of data, but offers redundancies on connectivity, power, cooling and features fire suppression and security capabilities with which traditional onsite setups could struggle.
The carrier neutral facility will offer various physical and virtual hosting services as well as opportunities for Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) to help provide high-availability, faster performance, and security to websites within Zambia and in the region.
Paratus Zambia added that the new datacentre supports the vision of President Hakainde Hichilema which includes the implementation and widening of technology capacity towards the 4th Industrial Revolution.
“Through a suite of colocation, hosting, supreme quality connectivity, speed, and security services, the Paratus datacentre empowers and accelerates Zambia businesses to achieve business excellence and to play an active role in the fourth industrial revolution,” the company added.
