Kaduna, Google partner to launch AI learning series in Hausa language
The Kaduna State Government has teamed with Google and Data Science Nigeria to establish the Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Beginners Learning Series, an initiative targeted at empowering women in Northern part of the country through technology.
The series explains artificial intelligence concepts in Hausa, making certain complicated technological concepts more accessible and culturally relevant to the region.
Uba Sani, executive governor of the State, said is committed digital transformation and economic growth, while also praising the enormous potential that AI education can bring to women in the state.
He said: "AI is not only the future; it is the present. By providing our people, particularly our women, with AI capabilities, we are not only building the road for a more wealthy and innovative Northern Nigeria, but also setting the groundwork for Kaduna to become a vibrant technology hub. We believe that technology can be a powerful force for change and we are committed to making learning resources available in local languages to empower more people" .
Olumide Balogun, the director of Google West Africa, said: "This series marks a new milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance AI knowledge across Northern Nigeria, fostering a broader understanding and application of AI technologies that drive innovation and create new job opportunities.
"The series is designed to make complex digital concepts more accessible and relatable, through its engaging animations and culturally relevant imagery thereby fostering inclusivity and participation in the growing tech sector."
According to Balogun, the AI for Beginners Learning Video Series is currently available on YouTube, the Data Science Nigeria platform and the National Information Technology Development Agency education portal.
