The Huawei DigiTruck initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by providing ICT training in under-served communities.

More than 180 Kenyan youth have graduated from the Huawei DigiTruck project in the East African country.

This has been celebrated as a watershed moment in preparing the next generation of technology leaders with the digital skills needed to succeed in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

The Huawei DigiTruck initiative seeks to close the digital gap by offering affordable ICT training in underserved communities.

Participants in the class learnt important skills such as cloud computing, coding, and digital literacy.

This is intended to prepare them for the future of work in the technology sector, in keeping with the Kenyan government's goal of developing a digital workforce and economy.

John Kiarie, the Member of Parliament for Dagoretti South, attended the ceremony.

"In today's world, no discipline stands alone independent of technology," said Kiarie.

Kiarie expressed gratitude for the Dagoretti South Partnership with Huawei and Computer for Schools, which resulted in the 189 individuals receiving basic digital literacy training.

The Huawei DigiTruck is a modified shipping container on wheels that serves communities that traditional classrooms cannot reach.

Each DigiTruck is outfitted with 20 PCs, 20 virtual reality headsets, and built-in Wi-Fi, making it a mobile digital school.
