Wingu Africa, an East African provider of carrier-neutral, Tier III-standard data centres, has introduced the Wingu Cloud Exchange (WCX), a custom private cloud platform designed to secure enterprise information within Ethiopia.

According to the firm, while enabling Ethiopian organisations to store their data locally, this also ensures strict compliance with national data sovereignty regulations while protecting sensitive information.

It went on to say the locally optimised infrastructure will provide businesses with faster access to services, improved operational efficiency, and reliable technical support.

WCX combines essential cloud services, including computing, storage, container management, and security, making the technology accessible to enterprises of varying sizes, said the company.

The platform features a dedicated range of services, including Wingu Compute for infrastructure, Wingu Kubernetes for container management, Wingu Drive for secure storage, and Wingu Security for threat protection and compliance.

Wingu said to offer operational flexibility, the platform has been designed to integrate with existing on-premises systems.

It also complements global hyperscale providers such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, giving customers viable hybrid cloud options.

"We are delivering secure, compliant, and scalable cloud solutions built specifically for local needs. With this platform, we are setting a new standard for digital infrastructure in the region and accelerating Ethiopia's transformation into a digitally enabled economy,” said Demos Kyriacou, deputy CEO, COO, and co-founder of Wingu Africa.
