Vodacom Business has announced the launch of a device-based security solution aimed specifically at small businesses.

The mobile operator says the solution will help to protect mobile data and information using a Vodacom Business SIM card.

"Dubbed SecureNet, the solution housed on Vodacom's core network, requires no large programs to be installed or managed. It eliminates the risk that users will fail to update or implement the protection, which can cause weak points, vulnerable to viruses and malware attacks" explained Vodacom in its announcement.

Vuyani Jarana, Chief Executive at Vodacom Business says "Smart mobile devices have quickly become an important part of businesses, especially with the era of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). However, as more companies depend on mobile devices, cybercrime becomes an even bigger threat with more potential for mobile viruses, mobile malware and phishing."

Vodacom's SecureNet comes only a few days after the company's competitor MTN Business introduced a range of converged business offers for small and medium businesses (SMBs).

MTN stated that the offers are established to provide SMEs with ICT services and solutions to enable them to lower their costs and increase productivity, among other benefits.
