TD Africa, a technology distributor, and Schneider Electric, an energy technology provider, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly build a new generation of AI-ready datacentres across Nigeria.
The pact, unveiled at Schneider Electric Innovation Day Nigeria 2025, will include both core and edge datacentres.
Signing on behalf of TD Africa, Zinox Group chairman, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh described the partnership as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s digital future. “The collaboration aligns with national ambitions to deepen technological competitiveness and support enterprises operating in an increasingly data-driven economy,” he stated.
He said the deployment of the datacentres would, over the next decade, accelerate the nation’s technological growth and position local businesses to compete globally.
Ajibola Akindele, country president of Schneider Electric for anglophone Africa, highlighted the company’s impact in electrifying, automating, and digitising Nigeria’s energy sector.
According to him, this positions the company as a major powerhouse for critical energy infrastructures, advancing industrial automation across the country – digitising 100% of the energy produced in Nigeria, 95% of the country’s refining operations, and 55% of its food production.
Other executives from Schneider Electric present at the signing included Walid Sheta, zone president for Middle East & Africa, and Canninah Dladla, cluster president.
Through the MoU, TD Africa will leverage its distribution network and ecosystem while tapping Schneider Electric’s expertise in energy management and automation.
The companies say the resulting datacentre infrastructure will be secure, energy-efficient, and scalable, positioning Nigeria to meet rising digital demand and future innovation needs.
