An announcement of the exit of SEACOM chief executive officer Mark Simpson has been followed by the pan-African network service provider shaking up its management structure.

SEACOM founder Brian Herlihy has taken top spot in the company again as executive director.

Meanwhile, SEACOM says it has established a new business development group, led by Suveer Ramdhani, to enter new markets.

Ramdhani is formerly the head of SEACOM product strategy and one of the founding members of its leadership team.

Also, Chris Smyth was appointed as SEACOM chief financial officer in October last year.

Restructuring has further involved product and service development being consolidated into sales and marketing functions under the leadership of chief commercial officer, Byron Clatterbuck.

Other key changes involve Willem Marais being promoted to global head of sales, Robert Marston promoted to global head of product and Nicola Haynes-Smart promoted to head of business operations.

“We have a strong platform for growth. In particular, we have a strong management team with real depth and experience,” says Herlihy in a statement.

“Our new management structure positions us perfectly to expand our revenues and share of ICT spending in our core markets in the years to come,” adds Herlihy.

SEACOM operates a 17,000km subsea broadband cable that connects Africa’s eastern coastline to Europe and Southern Asia.
