The Oracle Academy has completed its first ‘Train the Trainer’ Introduction to Computer Science (ICS) course in Kenya.

In a press statement, Oracle says 26 faculty members from Jomo Kenyatta University, Strathmore University and Riara University attended the five day classroom-based training, which was completed in April.

The course forms part of Oracle’s aim to support computer science skills development in Kenya.

“ICT skills are a key focus for government, business and industry alike in Kenya,” said Gilbert Saggia, country managing director of Oracle Kenya.

“As an industry leader we can help teachers impart globally transferable skill sets to their students, ones that will be of relevance to a broad spectrum of careers and ultimately support economic growth in Kenya,” said Saggia.
