MTN has handed over a technology hub at the Mangateen Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Juba, South Sudan, an establishment to accommodate people displaced by conflict and instability. The hub is part of an initiative by the company to empower underserved communities with modern technology and opportunities.
David Yau Yau, deputy minister of ICT and Postal Services, the undersecretary of the ministry of ICT, Mawien Bulabek, and Dut Acol de Dut, National Communications Authority’s director of spectrum management attended the handover ceremony.
MTN says the facility features computer desktops, reliable internet connectivity, and solar power, providing vital digital access to the community. Additionally, MTN South Sudan donated 50 smartphones to heads of households within the IDP camp, further enhancing access to communication and digital services.
According to the telco, the tech hub highlighted the conclusion of MTN’s Y’ello Care 2025, an annual flagship employee volunteerism program, where employees dedicate time to community development initiatives across the company’s footprint.
The company adds that connectivity plays a critical role in today’s world, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to empowering underserved communities with modern technology and opportunities.
“This milestone reflects MTN’s deep dedication to corporate social responsibility and its vision to foster a brighter, more connected future for the people of South Sudan,” notes the telco.
