The National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT), an engineering school, and the Al Mada Foundation have launched Morocco's first data and artificial intelligence (AI) master's degree program in an effort to produce a new generation of highly skilled professionals capable of driving the country's digital and technological transformation.
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency supervises INPT. According to Morocco World News, the program is unique in North Africa because it combines academic training with paid work-study experience.
The two-year program is designed for graduates with bachelor's degrees in mathematics, computer science, or physics.
Students will initially complete a common core curriculum before focussing on a specific subject in their second year.
In response to a business environment in which data and AI are reshaping eco-nomic models and redefining essential corporate skills, the institution stated that it trains data scientists and data engineers who combine technical expertise with strategic vision and digital responsibility.
A total of 30 students have already been admitted and began classes in late September, following a rigorous selection procedure that includes academic record evaluations, written examinations, and oral assessments.
These students will begin their first workplace immersion in January 2026, with expansion plans for future years to engage more students.
The paid work-study approach, which is an important feature of the program, will involve prominent organisations such as Attijariwafa Bank, Inwi, Managem, and Marjane Group hosting the students. The firms will collaborate with INPT to mentor students during the course of their studies.
“The future of our economies, businesses, and societies depends on how we master and responsibly use data and AI. We’ve reached a pivotal moment where these technologies have become a strategic imperative, not an option,” said president of Al Mada Foundation, Hassan Ouriagli.
Ahmed Tamtaoui, INPT’s interim director, added: “Through this partnership with Al Mada Foundation, we offer our students top-tier training that combines academic rigour with professional experience to prepare the talents Morocco needs for its future.”
