Kenya is moving forward with the digitisation of its public documents, having established the National Access to Information Policy.

William Gitau, cabinet secretary of the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy, received the final draft of the policy from the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) yesterday, describing it as a significant step towards Open Government Partnership commitments.

He said: “The National Access to Information Policy will strengthen the timely access of information by the public. This policy, developed through collaborative efforts with the CAJ, sets clear guidelines for digitising records and enhancing proactive disclosure”

The cabinet secretary added: “Once adopted, the policy will create a strong enabling environment for the full realisation of the Right to Information in Kenya, fostering citizen engagement, transparency, and accountability in public service delivery.”
