Kenya and Rwanda are strengthening cooperation in the digital economy as the two East African neighbours deepen ties in ICT and innovation.
Bilateral discussions were held on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit 2026, co-hosted by Kenya and France in Nairobi.
Kenya’s cabinet secretary for information, communications and the digital economy, William Kabogo, hosted Rwanda’s minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, for discussions focusing on expanding collaboration in key digital sectors.
The discussions covered artificial intelligence, data centres, digital infrastructure, innovation, talent development and broader regional cooperation.
Kabogo said both countries agreed on the need to accelerate the implementation of existing frameworks and strengthen coordination through regional platforms such as Connected Africa and Smart Africa.
“Kenya remains committed to working with Rwanda and other African partners to build a more connected, resilient and innovative digital future for the continent,” he said.
The Africa Forward Summit 2026 brought together stakeholders to reimagine Africa–France cooperation, with a focus on innovation, green industrialisation and digital transformation.
