Kenya, Microsoft explore AI, cyber security alliance

Kenya and Microsoft are exploring collaborations on digital transformation, cyber security, and local public infrastructure security, as well as the establishment of digital hubs across the country.

The partnership is also expected to improve citizen data protection in the East African country.

William Gitau, cabinet secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, met with a delegation of Microsoft executives yesterday at the ministry's Nairobi offices to discuss the matter.

The Microsoft delegation included Rashida Hodge, corporate vice president of data and artificial intelligence (AI) customer success, Aarti Borkar, corporate vice president of security, customer success, and incident response, and Phyllis Migwi, country manager

Gitau said of the meeting, "We also discussed AI Integration across government to enhance delivery, policymaking, and resilience."

"Further, we delved into how to enhance data governance and compliance by promoting trusted cloud partnerships and sovereign control."

Stephen Isaboke (Broadcasting & Telecommunications) and John Tanui (ICT & Digital Economy), as well as Emmanuel Kata, secretary of ICT and security audit control, were in attendance.
