Kenya is strengthening its technology sector by connecting with key industry leaders from various countries around the world.
The most recent meeting took place this week in Nairobi, where Kenyan and Kuwaiti representatives met to strengthen their partnerships.
William Gitau, Kenya's cabinet secretary for information, communications, and the digital economy, met with Abdullahi Al-Fahad, charge d'affaires and head of the Kuwaiti Mission in Nairobi, to discuss critical areas of partnership.
Following the meeting, Gitau said: “We explored how the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy and the Ministry of Information (Kuwait) will collaborate to spur the digital economy and develop digital training programmes in both nations.”
He added: “Plans are underway to sign a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) between the two nations in an effort to deepen our relations and partnership in various sectors including ICT, Health, Transport and Labour.
“The government of Kenya is intent on advancing digital transformation through installation of 100,000kms of high speed fiber optic infrastructure to provide internet, establishment of 1450 digital hubs across the country, digital literacy capacity building amongst other programmes.”
