Kenya is strengthening cyber security cooperation with Slovakia while also boosting ties with China Telecom on digital transformation.
The delegations from the Central European country and the Chinese corporation were received by the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, respectively.
On Wednesday, William Gitau, cabinet secretary for the Ministry, hosted the ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Maroš Mitrík. They discussed cyber security cooperation, knowledge exchange, and digital skilling plans.
“We look forward to deepening this collaboration to enhance cyber-incident response, digital skills development and shared research fostering innovation and resilience in our digital ecosystem,” Gitau said after Wednesday’s meeting.
On the same day, he met with a delegation from China Telecom, led by senior executive Lin Gui Qing, in Nairobi.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in artificial intelligence, improving cloud computing, and developing data centres in Kenya.
Gitau stated that he was also looking into improving government digitisation in Kenya in order to redefine public service delivery through the use of digital technologies.
“This is a crucial component of the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy Pillar under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” he added.
