Global career education firm Aptech is partnering with India’s Scope Global Skills University (SGSU) to launch a Nigerian-to-India information technology degree pathway, designed to produce industry-ready talent for the digital economy.

According to the Guardian, a Lagos-based publication, the programme is a 36-month Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) in IT with specialisation in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

It is designed to address the challenge of the widening gap between traditional academic training and the advanced digital skills required by global employers.

As Aptech marks its 25 year in Nigeria, it has emphasised that the new degree pathway is structured to offer a blend of Nigerian-based training and Indian university immersion at a lower cost than Western alternatives.

The B.Voc. programme is delivered in two phases. For the first 18 months, students study at Aptech centres across the African country; taking industry-focused courses in programming, Python, Java, react-based AI web development, structure query language server, and foundational AI concepts.

Students who complete the initial phase transition to India for the final 18 months of residential study at SGSU’s campus in Bhopal, where they undertake deeper coursework in data science with MongoDB, deep learning, computer vision, cross-platform mobile development, and a capstone innovation project.

The institutions went on to say that the degree is approved by India’s University Grants Commission and is internationally recognised and qualifies graduates for postgraduate studies and competitive global roles.

“This partnership aligns Nigeria’s vast youth talent with the global digital economy by offering affordable, industry-relevant training at home and advanced university learning abroad,” said Kallol Mukherjee, executive vice president, International Business at Aptech Limited.
