Google Cloud is expanding its cooperation with Digicloud Africa as a Security Operations Distribution Partner, giving organisations on the continent access to AI-powered cyber security solutions.
According to Digicloud, as Google Cloud's distributor since 2018, its expanded role enables resellers and partners to assist businesses in strengthening their defences with enterprise-grade security products and services from its portfolio, backed by Google's global expertise and local African insight.
This comes as the rates of cyber crime across the diaspora have spiked, with INTERPOL’s 2025 Africa Cyber threat Assessment Report highlighting that 90% of countries in the region believe there is a need for ‘significant improvement’ in law enforcement or prosecution capacity, citing the level and impact of the threats they face.
The Google Cloud Security Operations platform helps security professionals modernise their security operations centre beyond alert monitoring and response by providing enterprises with integrated capabilities, front-line threat intelligence, and AI-infused security workloads needed to identify and protect against threat actors.
Google further noted that despite being a unique and diverse market, the threats African businesses face from a cyber security perspective are global, as such the company continues to seek strategies to help organisations identify and protect against these threats.
“Given Digicloud Africa’s dedication and success with Google Cloud in Africa over the past seven years, they were the right partner to help us bring Google Cloud’s security products to our customers in Africa,” said Wunan Li, global lead for Google Cloud Security Ecosystem and Business Development.
Gregory MacLennan, CEO and co-founder of Digicloud Africa, highlighted that by collaborating with a reseller through Digicloud, businesses can receive the support they require to successfully deploy and operate these solutions.
“In making these products available to cyber security focused partners, we’re bringing Google Cloud’s extensive expertise and broad range of solutions to more businesses across the continent.”
He added: “Today, if you want to keep your business safe from cyber crime, you need to partner with a brand that is keeping up with the latest trends and always expanding and improving defence strategies.
"For us, the fact that Google Cloud has made several significant investments and acquisitions in this space in recent years showcases its commitment to staying ahead of the curve to properly secure its products and services.”
