In Africa, Facebook had more than 50 million users as of March 2013, according to research firm Socialbakers.

And in a country like South Africa the popular social network has an active has 9.4 million active users as revealed by a research study released by technology market research firm World Wide Worx and social media measurement company Fuseware last year.

The report also revealed that other popular international websites for Opera Mini users on the continent include Wikipedia, Yahoo and YouTube.

Meanwhile, southern African nation Zimbabwe was the counntry with the most local websites in the top-ten list with four out of the ten spots being local sites, namely newsday.co.zw, herald.co.zw, econet.co.zw, and myzimbabwe.co.zw
