Eutelsat has signed a new distribution agreement with Angolan telco MSTelcom, a subsidiary of Sonangol Group, to deliver its OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) connectivity services across crucial sectors, including oil and gas, maritime, and fixed land operations.
The partnership leverages the Paris-head quartered firm’s operational footprint, including a ground station and local point-of-presence in Angola that enables its OneWeb’s high-speed, low-latency services in the country and Central Africa.
Philippe Baudrier, VP Africa for Eutelsat, said: “This agreement expands the reach of our LEO services in Angola and strengthens our work supporting the country’s connectivity needs. By joining forces with MSTelcom, we are enabling secure, resilient and high-performance connectivity for sectors that are critical to Angola’s economic development.”
For Felisberta de Jesus, CEO of MSTelcom, the collaboration is about connectivity accessibility, allowing the telco to meet the demand of customers who operate in remote locations.
She commented: “Partnering with Eutelsat enables MSTelecom to provide next-generation connectivity solutions to our customers operating in demanding and remote environments. This agreement strengthens our mission to deliver reliable, high-quality communications that support Angola’s industrial growth and digital development.”
The latest agreement closely follows the satellite provider’s recent multi-million partnership with pan-African network provider, Paratus to extend LEO services in the Southern African region.
Under the agreement, MSTelcom will bring LEO connectivity solutions to enterprise, public sector, and telecom customers.
