At the Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, Eutelsat and Paratus announced a new multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to expand OneWeb Low Earth orbit (LEO) services across Southern Africa.
The accord, which builds on a long-standing cooperation, will provide Eutelsat's high-speed, low-latency connectivity solutions to more customers and businesses in the region, including South Africa, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia.
Eutelsat and Paratus' partnership addresses the growing demand for reliable and resilient connectivity across the continent, ranging from remote industrial activities to enterprise and community networks.
Ghassan Murat, regional vice president of Middle East and Africa at Eutelsat, said: “By combining Eutelsat’s LEO capabilities with Paratus’ established network and operational presence, we are enabling organisations to stay connected wherever they operate.”
Schalk Erasmus, CEO of Paratus, said expanding their LEO service offering with Eutelsat strengthened a strategy of delivering adaptable and robust connectivity solutions across Africa.
Paratus believes that by combining their capabilities, they will be able to service clients more effectively and efficiently.
“Working together, we are supporting our customers’ growth and digital transformation, even in the most challenging environments,” Erasmus assured.
