Over the next two years, Ethio Telecom, Dashen Bank, and ETTA Solutions, a technology business, will work together to provide digital solutions to over 10,000 merchants, with the goal of improving operational efficiency and boosting financial inclusion.
This comes as the trio prepares to launch a business automation solution, Zoorya, that combines enterprise resource planning, point of sale, and cash register systems into a single platform.
Zoorya's platform streamlines business transactions, maintains transparency, and allows for contactless transactions, all of which contribute to the building of a cashless society.
According to the trio, the platform uses Ethio Telecom's telecloud infrastructure and links it with the company's telebirr payment system, which has over 54 million clients.
Telecloud, according to the telco, is a digital solution that allows institutions seeking an efficient off-site data back-up solution and individuals who need larger storage spaces to store, compile and access various services in secure data centers built by digital solution providers without the need to build their own data center or acquire additional infrastructure.
Regarding, Zoorya, the automation solution targets sectors such as hospitality, import, export, manufacturing, and retail, and Ethio Telecom said it aims to modernise service delivery, streamlining operations and workflows, empowering data-driven decision-making, and enhancing customer experience.
Furthermore, the solution is capable of accepting all domestic and international cards and provides a fiscal accounting service certified by the Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues, said the company.
It added that the platform also enables merchants to manage their resources and obtain a single, consolidated receipt containing all payment information.
The state-owned telco went on to note that it will also lead the promotion and distribution of the solution to merchants across the country.
“The Zoorya solution is a pioneering national initiative representing a historic collaboration where the three institutions have played critical roles,” said Ethio Telecom.
