Egyptian start-ups are making a foray into the Asian market, with an official debut at Sustainable High City Tech Tokyo (SusHi Tech Tokyo) 2026, the continent's largest innovation conference.

The move represents a new generation of Egyptian companies trying to expand beyond their traditional strongholds in the Middle East and Africa by focusing on high-value markets.

According to the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), ten selected start-ups will participate in the Japan event, which takes place from April 27 to 29.

These companies are working directly with Japanese and foreign investors to form relationships that go beyond cash, focusing on market access, knowledge transfer, and long-term joint growth.

The delegation’s participation is backed by ITIDA in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

This initiative falls under the strategic Project Next Innovation with Japan framework, a partnership designed to bridge Egyptian start-ups with global innovation networks and high-quality investment opportunities.

“Egypt’s first-ever participation with a dedicated tech start-up pavilion at SusHi Tech Tokyo marks a significant step in expanding Egyptian start-ups’ access to Asian markets, particularly Japan,” said Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA.

“Through this initiative, we aim to directly connect innovative Egyptian tech start-ups with global investors and partners, enabling them to showcase their solutions and accelerate their global expansion, while reinforcing Egypt’s position as a global hub for digital innovation and technology exports.”

The participating companies represent sectors currently seeing high demand in Asia, including artificial intelligence, logistics, healthtech, and cleantech.
