Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered logistics centre to support commerce by leveraging advanced technologies to increase efficiency and optimise operational space.

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, minister of investment and foreign trade Mohamed Farid, minister of trade and industry Khaled Hashem, and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency Ahmed Elzaher all attended the opening ceremony.

According to the government, the facility was developed in collaboration with Hassan Allam Utilities for Talabat Mart Egypt, the country’s largest online platform for on-demand delivery.

It is located within the YANMU East Logistics Park and serves the Talabat Mart network across 12 Egyptian cities, with plans to expand to 17 cities.

ICT minister Raafat Hendy underlined that the hub reflects growing confidence in the Egyptian market and its strong potential in the e-commerce sector.

He further noted that the significant progress in the nation’s digital infrastructure, coupled with the rapid growth of e-commerce services across digital platforms and mobile apps in recent years, has been a key driver in attracting investment and encouraging international companies to expand their operations locally, particularly in the digital economy and e-commerce sectors.

The hub is supported by integrated real-time systems that connect inventory management, outlets, and supply chain operations, ensuring fast and efficient execution.

It also leverages internally developed AI models to forecast demand, optimise inventory allocation, and automate supply chain processes, improving accuracy, efficiency, and responsiveness while reducing waste across the network.

“The facility currently accommodates about 75,000 depots, with the capacity to double within the same footprint without further expansion, strengthening logistics efficiency and supporting the growth of e-commerce and supply chain services,” noted the ministry.

General manager of Talabat Egypt, Mohamed Sekkina, highlighted that the hub serves as a cornerstone in supporting the company’s operations in the North African nation.

He emphasised that the firm’s investment in technology underscores its continued commitment to improving operational efficiency and providing customers with a faster and more reliable experience.
