Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is training over 10,000 undergraduate university students in emerging technologies and digital arts to equip them with ICT skills that meet business needs.

The training is taking place as part of ITIDA's enhanced Summer Internship Program, which is being run in partnership with the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI) and Motorola Systel.

The government's vision, led by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and its affiliates, notably ITIDA, prioritises young talent in its digital transformation strategy.

By 2025, the country hopes to have trained over 500 000 workers in high-demand sectors such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cyber security through targeted programs.

ITIDA stated that the initiative has a renewed focus on future-ready skills and expanded reach to undergraduate students from faculties of engineering, computer science, business information systems, media, fine and applied arts, and art education across Egypt.

“The revamped program was redesigned to meet evolving labour market needs and the skill demands of local and international employers. Each training path spans 120 hours, including 90 hours of specialised technical training, and 30 hours of workplace readiness training, covering soft skills and freelancing fundamentals,” said ITIDA.

“Delivered in cooperation with NTI, the program features eight specialised tracks, including cyber security, software development and user interface/user experience design, data analytics and AI, cloud computing, systems administration, electronics, digital arts, and digital marketing.”
