The Zambian government plans to launch a central electronic regulatory system to monitor and evaluate the operations of casinos countrywide.

Sylvia Masebo, minister of tourism and arts in the country, said the Zambian government could soon launch a central electronic regulatory system for
monitoring and evaluating operations of all casinos in that country.

Officially opening a casino in Lusaka this week, Masebo said the electronic regulatory system, which is still undergoing review, is aimed at
compelling all casinos in the country to operate within the regulations of the laws of the country.

“Once the laws are put in place, government shall not hesitate to close down any casino which will be found operating outside the regulations,” Masebo
said.

She said the electronic system would also take into account the number of casinos to be opened in each town across the country.

Masebo said society must guard against gambling addiction, which may destroy their social welfare in society.
