Paratus Zambia to host Lusaka Internet Exchange
Paratus Zambia has announced a partnership with Lusaka Internet Exchange (LIXP), whereby the Paratus Zambia data centre has incorporated LIXP into its facilities, allowing all providers in the data centre to have access to high-speed connections and hosting solutions.
This, the two parties say, will improve internet service quality in Zambia, thus boosting digital innovation and economic growth potential.
In a statement, the companies say the partnership has extended LIXP's reach into the data centre, allowing any provider within the facility to access the Internet exchange point (IXP) at 10-gigabits per second speeds.
The statement reads: “This equates to significantly lower latency and smooth data transfer, substantially reshaping the internet experience for both individuals and companies.”
According to Paratus, having an IXP, like LIXP, directly connects internet service providers, content providers, and telecommunications firms to exchange internet traffic. “This reduces latency, lowers costs, and encourages digital innovation, all of which benefit the country as a whole,” says the company.
Furthermore, it says the integration of Paratus' data centre with LIXP has attracted a number of significant industry players, including Paratus, Inq, MTN, Infratel, Zamtel, Zamren, Liquid Telecom, FibreCom, and Airtel Zambia.
