South African bank First National Bank (FNB) has added the Playstation 4, television sets and Blu-ray DVD players to its smart device offerings.
According to a statement from the bank, gaming consoles were first added to the product mix in November 2013 when it made the Xbox available to qualifying cheque account holders.
The bank’s PS4 500 GB bundle purchase which includes 2 Wireless Controllers, Knack and Injustice Ultimate Edition is priced at R359 per month.
FNB has also stated that stock for its PS4 devices is limited.
The bank has become renowned in South Africa for selling smart devices such as the Apple iPhone at monthly installments.
“It has been just over two years since we introduced the smart device offer to our customers as part of our digital banking strategy,” said Irlon Terblanche, chief executive officer at FNB Core Banking Solutions (CBS).
Kartik Mistry, head of Smart Devices at FNB CBS added, "By making TVs, Blu-ray DVD players and a wider range of gaming consoles available to our customers we are enabling them to stay on trend with the latest technology and move towards a more connected living experience which positions FNB as a lifestyle partner."
"The expansion of our product offer over the years, as well as customer feedback indicated that customers want to have the option of adding more than one device to their device portfolio, which we have now made available,” said Mistry.
The bank has revealed that it has sold over 200,000 devices since the launch of the smart device offers in 2011.
