Starzplay, a provider of video-on-demand services, has teamed up with TPAY, a payments provider in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, to enable subscription payments using mobile phone numbers.

The collaboration will begin with Orange Tunisia, then Sudatel Sudan and Chinguitel Mauritania, with hopes to expand to other nations in the region.

Starzplay will be able to take subscription payments from 9 million viewers via direct carrier billing, thanks to TPAY.

"Partnering with Starzplay strengthens our position as the region's preferred payment processing partner for merchants, particularly those in the streaming vertical and beyond," said Işk Uman, CEO, TPAY Group.

“We are happy to have created a technology that can alleviate all complexities associated with cross-border settlement. We also offer speedier payment cycles, compliance, and risk management, allowing our partners to focus on expanding their business."

"We are excited to announce our partnership with TPAY, which will enable us to instantly deliver our premium content to all entertainment and sports fans across the MENA region," said Raghida Abou-Fadel, senior VP of sales and business development at Starzplay.

“We can provide a simple and safe payment experience for our clients while expanding our footprint in the region by partnering with TPAY."
