Kenya’s FargoShopping launches with JamboPay gateway

East African security and courier company Wells Fargo has launched an online shopping outlet in Kenya called FargoShopping.co.ke, which uses local payment gateway JamboPay.

The website is planned to engulf major shopping outlets and give Kenyan customers a choice of products to order, making the company the first courier service to open a shopping platform in Kenya.

The shopping website has a wide range of products from well known brands. This includes beauty products, household items, beadery, computer and electronics, carpets and solar products. All of these products are planned to be delivered to clients across Kenya.

Businesses in Kenya that may not also be able to afford an ecommerce website are targeted to use this website as well. Wells Fargo says it will offer them space on the website at no charge.

This could also put the company’s courier brand on the forefront as they will be able to rely on their services to get products to buyers.

“At Fargo Courier we are excited about this opportunity to facilitate the sale of quality products from top retailers in Kenya and provide service of convenience to our customers,” Crista Cullen, Sales and Marketing Manager of Fargo Courier commented.

“Customers living outside Nairobi, can visit all the major Nairobi shopping malls, shops and boutiques, without living home,” Cullen added.

JamboPay solutions will offer the site’s payment gateway and accord its customers options such as credit or debit card payment and mobile money payment, which is more popular in Kenya.

Danson Muchemi, chief executive officer for JamboPay, said “We are very pleased to provide our JamboPay payment gateway to support FargoShopping. We believe the one-stop-shop FargoShopping will boost the interests of merchants to shift to online sales and attract more online shoppers.

JamboPay, which recently won a Google innovation award, plans to partner with more companies and spread its services across Africa.
