Ghana is getting another LTE network following a partnership agreement with Alepo Technologies and BLU Telecommunications (BLU).

Alepo Technologies is a provider of network and IT software solutions for global communications service providers. Meanwhile, BLU is a Ghanaian owned telecoms company that delivers broadband to consumers in the country.

And BLU is set to join Surfline in offering LTE in Ghana. Surfline, in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent, was among the first to launch LTE broadband services in Ghana.

In a press statement, Alepo is set to provide policy and charging control for a 4G/LTE network to BLU in Ghana.

Meanwhile, BLU's LTE services is expected to include data, voice, IPTV and Wi-Fi hotspots for residential and commercial customers, the statement adds.

A date for when the LTE services are expected to be available has not been revealed though.

“It was vital that we choose a scalable and flexible solutions provider such as Alepo, experienced in multi-service, convergent charging and policy with a strong dedication to LTE,” said Ekow Thomson, chief operating officer at BLU.

Dan Stern, vice president of sales at Alepo, added, "Alepo has significant insight into the immediate and long-term goals of LTE service providers.”

“We continue to develop advanced software solutions that enable our customers to lead their markets with the delivery and monetisation of new data services and capabilities,” Stern noted.
