The agreement was signed in Yaounde on Tuesday by Manaouda Malachie, minister of public health, and Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, general manager of Camtel.

Camtel, a telecoms company, and Cameroon's Ministry of Public Health struck a five-year connectivity partnership yesterday.

The collaboration is expected to play a critical role in advancing Cameroon's digital health initiatives, particularly a recently implemented universal health care program.

Under the terms of the agreement, Camtel will supply the health ministry with secure internet access, interconnection of health sites, mobile, fixed telephony services, and data security solutions.

The telco will also be in charge of cooperatively developing technical requirements for the ministry's annual needs.

Furthermore, Camtel will also provide remote supervision of deployed services and monitoring tools.

Camtel stated that, in addition to providing support, help, and training to health workers on how to fully utilise deployed resources, it will take all necessary efforts to ensure quality service delivery.

“Camtel will continue to offer innovative solutions to state structures in a bid to support them in their digital transformation journeys,” Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, general manager of Camtel pledged.
