MTN Cameroon CEO launches charm offensive
Mitwa Ng'ambi, who took over office from Stephen Blewett on 1 September as the new CEO of MTN Cameroon, has met with several telecommunication industry stakeholders as part of a campaign to gage the level of industry support, activity and cooperation.
Ng’ambi met with the CEO of IHS Towers Cameroon Abdallah Al Chammas during which both executives committed to cooperation.
MTN Cameroon has also undertaken to continue collaboration around technology innovation with Huawei having met with Thomas Zhang, CEO of the Chinese technology company’s Cameroon subsidiary.
Ng’ambi also met with the Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe and reaffirmed the company’s existing partnership based on the installation of smart video surveillance technology in buses to improve road safety.
“MTN Cameroon’s collaboration on the smart surveillance solution deployed on intercity buses is a major milestone and testament of the #PowerOfTech. Looking forward for more PPP’s,” Ng’ambi tweeted.
In a meeting with the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Minette Libom Li Likeng, Ng’ambi acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry in addressing industry challenges.
She pledged to use MTN’s tech expertise to support initiatives and projects piloted by the government of Cameroon.
Ng’ambi has also held discussions with Cameroon’s Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development Alamine Ousmane Mey that focused on the importance of technology as a multi-sector enabler of economic development.
Discussion included lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic and the acceleration of digital transformation to support Mey’s priority areas in 2023.
MTN Cameroon’s CEO and her sales team also engaged with MTN MoMo merchants, distribution partners and call box operators. It was an opportunity for the company’s leadership to better understand, first-hand, the experiences of retailers and agents, as well as the level of support required.
Ng’ambi remains focused on the strategic execution of MTN’s Ambition 2025 program which is pegged on building the largest and most valuable platforms, driving industry-leading connectivity operations, creating shared value and accelerating portfolio transformation.
