Africell, fintech PYYPL launch Visa card in Sierra Leone
Africell's mobile money platform, Afrimoney, teamed up with fintech PYYPL this week to launch an exclusive Visa card in Sierra Leone.
Africell says the card works smoothly with its Afrimoney mobile service, giving customers a virtual or personalised real card for local and international transactions between their Afrimoney Wallet and the PYYPL card.
Africell Group chairman and founder Ziad Dalloul, CEO and MD Shadi Al-Gerjawi, Afrimoney managing director Martison Obeng-Agye, as well as the Group and Africell Sierra Leone Management team, the chief minister, various ministers attended the event.
Obeng-Agyei expressed gratitude about the collaboration, underlining how this service combines Mobile Money and Visa Card functionality, providing global access to a variety of services without the requirement for a bank account, all through the Afrimoney mobile wallet.
The chief minister, David Moinina Sengeh, praised Afrimoney, calling it a crucial step toward the country's growth. Salima Bah, minister of communication, technology, and Innovation, reiterated Afrimoney's importance in making financial services more accessible and convenient.
Mohamed Bah, a PYYPL representative, explained the app registration process, which requires only a National ID Card or passport and an Africell number to and free transfers, regardless of the amount.
