Cameroon establishes hub to develop cybersecurity talent
Cameroon's newly established Centre for Cybersecurity and Mathematical Cryptology is expected to open in October.
The institution, which will be hosted by the University of Bamenda, a public research institution, will provide postgraduate studies in cybersecurity and cryptology for the first time.
The programme, which will be held in collaboration with the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, will concentrate on applied cryptology, cybersecurity, and embedded system security.
According to Theresia Nkuo-Akenji, vice-chancellor of UBA, at least 45 professionals will be trained each year, and scholarships are available to both Cameroonians and those from other African countries.
According to UBA authorities, the centre will also offer short-term pre-doctoral courses and research possibilities in addition to master's and PhD degree programmes.
