MTN donates dongles to Zambian varsity students
MTN Zambia has donated 50 internet dongles to the University of Zambia to support digital learning and internet connectivity for students.
The newly introduced "Ka Kakonek" dongles are portable devices that use a 4G network and will be handed to students who have difficulty accessing online resources owing to restricted or inconsistent internet connections.
The devices are the result of a collaboration between Huawei, ATEL, a wireless products provider, and MTN Zambia, aimed at providing students with a 'more cost-effective and reliable' WI-FI experience.
According to MTN, the donation will benefit education and drive digital inclusion in Zambia.
Professor Mundia Muya, vice chancellor at the University of Zambia, commented: “Access to reliable internet is crucial for our students, especially in today’s increasingly digital academic environment.
"This donation will significantly enhance their ability to engage with course materials, participate in online learning activities, and succeed in their studies.”
For Richard Acheampong, MTN Zambia chief marketing officer, this initiative aligns with the company's broader strategy of ‘everyone deserves the benefit of a modern connected life.’
