South African defence and security company, Saab Grintek Defence, has received a cash boost of R940 million to produce an integrated electronic warfare self-protection system for India's army.

In a statement Saab says that the Hindustan Aeronautic Limited (HAL) has ordered the security system to be installed on the Indian army's and air force's advanced light helicopter Dhruv.

Saabs integrated security system protects the crew by enhancing platform survivability in sophisticated, diverse and dense threat environments, reads the statement.

The security system also provides timely warning against radar, laser and infrared guided threats.

Chris Skinner, vice president and head of marketing, sales & commercial at Saab Grintek Defence said, "HAL and the Indian end users remain one of Saab Grintek Defence's most important customers and we are delighted that they have continued faith in the IDAS system, of which this follow on order is a clear indication."
