Beware of agents posing as Elo distributors
Beware of computer hardware distributors who claim to have Elo TouchSystems touch-screen products available in their portfolio. This warning was issued today by Mauro Mercuri, managing director of Tactile Technologies, which is the single licensed distributor of this elite product in the entire southern African and islands region.
"Elo TouchSystems is the leading producer of touch-screen technology and therefore the brand is highly sought-after. It is hardly surprising, then, that we have encountered more and more potential clients who claim to have been sold Elo products by other agents," Mercuri said.
This was particularly frustrating, he said, because clients were buying inferior products, believing them to be Elo technology. This ultimately undermined the superior quality and reputation of the brand, particularly when the product functioned poorly or broke down.
"Elo TouchSystems is the Rolls Royce of touch-screen technology and this company has only licensed one company in this region to sell their products. That company is Tactile Technologies. If anyone tries to peddle you an Elo product, please be sceptical," he cautioned.
The scam has been encountered mostly in the point of sale (POS) industry. Anyone who encounters other agents claiming to have Elo products for sale, or anyone who is sceptical of the origin of their POS hardware, is encouraged to contact Tactile Technologies through the contact details below.
Remember, it`s only Elo if the receipt says "Tactile Technologies".
