Networks Unlimited certifies Fortinet partners in East Africa
Value-added distributor, Networks Unlimited is intensifying its footprint in East Africa, training its partners and customers in the region to become certified and also to manage complex projects by effectively installing and utilising the Fortinet range of fast and secure cyber security solutions for customers operating in the region.
"The desired outcome of the training was to enable a hands on competence in trouble shooting technical challenges for both pre-sales employees and network administrators," says Stefan van de Giessen, Fortinet product manager at Networks Unlimited.
He elaborates: "The training entailed instructor-led configuration and administration of the most commonly used features of FortiGate appliances, such as firewall policies, user authentication, basic VPNs, explicit proxy, virus detection, web filtering, application control and more. These administrative fundamentals will provide a solid understanding of how to integrate and maintain basic network security. Also covered was a selection of advanced FortiGate networking and security features. Topics included features commonly used in complex or larger enterprise/ MSSP networks, such as advanced routing, transparent mode, redundant infrastructure, SaaS, advanced IPsec VPN, IPS, SSO, certificates, data leak prevention, diagnostics, and fine-tuning performance.
"Cyber threats are a global concern to any company within any economy across the globe. Fortinet presents a dependable mitigation to this challenge."
Delegates from both Kenya and Uganda attended the training in Nairobi. "Networks Unlimited views Kenya as a significant launch pad for its entry into the East African market, as such we have invested in an office in Nairobi and a workforce that drives its agenda on the ground. Based in Saachi Plaza in the upmarket Kilimani area, the team has traversed the entire market and built an admirable partner and customer base in the past 12 months since our entry into the market," adds Anton Jacobsz, managing director at Networks Unlimited. "Advanced plans are underway to expand our operations in Kenya to include a bonded warehouse and a fully-fledged team capable of running the East African market from Nairobi."
