Schneider Electric, an energy management and automation provider, has chosen Canninah Dladla as its new cluster president for English-speaking (Anglophone) Africa, beginning June 1.
According to the company, Dladla will be the first female cluster president for English-speaking Africa, which includes 24 countries and is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She succeeds Devan Pillay, who will assume his new international role as Segment President, Heavy Industries, based in London, England.
Dladla's hiring is significant given the growing need for energy and sustainable solutions, and it aligns with Schneider Electric's objective to support sustainable growth across the continent through innovative energy management, according to the company.
She will also manage the region in specific sectors, beginning with talent development and technology deployment to targeted segments through digitisation and electrification.
Dladla has a 29-year career and a proven track record of impactful leadership, the company said.
She worked with Schneider Electric from 2008 to 2013, holding various strategic positions, including vice president of the company's Energy Business within its Power Systems division.
Her most recent jobs included managing director and country sales director for Rockwell Automation in Africa, where she was instrumental in pushing business transformation and establishing cultural alignment, ensuring that global strategy was effortlessly adapted to local markets.
She also held an executive management job at GE Power, where she oversaw major accounts and key business transformation programs.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I’m delighted to rejoin Schneider Electric at a time when Anglophone Africa shows great potential for transformation.
"The region holds many prospects for economic growth through improved infrastructure and expanded electricity access with its combination of vast natural resources, growing urbanisation, and rising sustainable energy needs.”
