Ghana establishes data pricing committee
Ghana's Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has established an inter-agency data pricing committee to cut costs in the country's telecoms sector.
The committee, chaired by minister of communication, digital technology, and innovation Samuel Nartey George, is made up of representatives from the ministry of finance, ministry of energy, national communication authority, public utilities regulatory commission, chamber of telecommunications, national union of Ghana students, Ghana bloggers association, Ghana payment & fintech association, and association of content creators.
According to the government, the group has been given 14 working days to create a road map that will reduce data costs and make it more available to all citizens.
"The minister for communication, digital technology and innovations, Sam George (MP) chairs inter-agency data pricing committee, inaugurated today with the task to assess prevailing pricing models and make recommendations," stated the department.
